    Intel's i9-9900K (Amazon):

In this review of AMD's new Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, we look at the remainder of Intel's i5 lineup -- primarily composed of the i5-9600K -- and run generational benchmarks versus AMD's older R5 2600/2600X and R5 1600 CPUs. All modern CPUs on the chart also have overclock numbers accompanying them. Memory was 3200MHz CL14 with manually configured secondary and tertiary timings for all bench platforms, ensuring data accuracy and consistency. 3200MHz is the highest frequency that works on everything we benchmarked in this list, allowing us to control a variable while still using a reasonable memory speed. We'll do separate benchmarking on memory scaling. In the meantime, this benchmark tests the AMD R5 3600 for power consumption, Blender performance, Premiere, Photoshop, 7-Zip, V-Ray, GCC code compiling, and more, alongside gaming benchmarks versus Intel. Our reviews of the AMD R9 3900X, R7 3700X, AMD RX 5700 XT, and AMD RX 5700 are forthcoming or have already been published, depending on when you check this video. Be sure to check back regularly to catch all of the reviews -- they're mostly done! AMD vs. Intel 2019 has officially started.

For the Compile benchmarks, building Mozilla would be an excellent test - Mozilla build times are strongly CPU bound; currently I use an Intel 7920 14/28-core and it takes around 18+ minutes (on Linux; typically Windows builds are considerably slower, but I don't have both OSes on the same machine). Note that Mozilla defaults to clang (including on Windows), but can still build with GCC on linux (though I'm not sure if that works on Windows; we moved from MSVC to clang last year on Windows). If you do a "normal" opt build, almost all the compile is 100% on all threads. If you do a "release" or profiling build, it has to do a long single-threaded LTO pass that adds around 5 minutes (on the 7920). Ryzen 3900x will be a strong option for us for desktop build machines going forward..... Contact me if you want any tips on how to set up a test using Mozilla

StormSorry it all depends on your budget. I’d recommend an x570 unless you’re gonna “rent” a CPU. If you’re gonna “rent” a CPU, then get an x470, as they don’t come with the software to use a gen 3 and you need to update it to run a 3600. For RAM, if you’re on a budget, then try either 16 gb of 3000 MHz or 3200 MHz

When are you going to start talking about the insane amount of people having issues with idle voltage and WHEA BSOD issues for both AMD and Nvidia cards- no one on YT is mentioning all these glaring launch issues meanwhile Reddit is on fire. Robert from AMD and Manuel from Nvidia have started posts and surveys to try and fix all these issues that are keeping us from even using our new chips

              From AMD reddit
As a temporary workaround, you can use the standard Windows Balanced plan. Edit this plan to use 85% minimum processor state, 100% maximum processor state. (Example). This will chill things out as we continue to work this issue. Your 1T and nT scores shouldn't change at all (+/- the usual run-to-run variance). This will preserve boost, retain cc6 core sleeping, preserve idle downclocking/downvolting, but make the CPU more relaxed about boosting under light loads.

Yeah, I have one in the mail already. When you're building for someone that would sell body parts for 30fps the 3600 is the way to go. Got the whole system including monitor and x570/5700xt for $1500. Could have gone cheaper but had to have a nice case. Compare to the cost of my 2700x system at $2100 without monitor a year ago when video and memory was almost double the price.

The 3600 just popped on Amazon France and holy shit the value of this chip cannot be matched! Literally hovering 199 euros at the moment! Not only that, the 2600 dropped straight to ~119 euros and the 1200 hovering the 60 euros! So if you want the best chips for your money don't even consider on looking elsewhere!

I am legit amazed, the 3600 was announced first at around 250 euros, but these mad lads released it at ~199 euros and dropped the price of some of their best 2nd gen chips !

I hope that it has something to do with the shitty glitched out bios msi spat out and that they will update it soon but idk.

So that is the processor that Ryzen 5 3600 is competing with and should be compared to.
The Ryzen 5 3600X is selling for 248.00 and the i5-9600K is going for 249.69, so those are the comparisons that should be happening at this time.

Cause my MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon shows that the chipset is at 65C-66C in the BIOS, even the PC is just being switched on, is this normal? Thanks for any answering.

It probably isn’t said enough, but the i5-9600k is $250 AND requires a heatsink fan to be sold separately, so add another $20 minimum, and it’s now $270 compared to the $200 Ryzen 5-3600.

The i5 at best matches the 3600 in most games and at worst gets obliterated in multithreaded benchmarks, while again having a $70 price difference. Need to identify these price/performance gains more clearly. The i5-9600k is obsolete.

Everyone is dazzled by the 3900X, but most gamers look at $200-$250 CPUs.
