Quite Simply, irefutably. The "New Trilogy" lost the originals charm by way of romance. There is none. There is only mechanical desires / needs driving the films.

Someone needs to tell this guy that Lucasfilm (and hundreds of people who worked with Lucas himself) still makes these movies, despite being owned by Disney. Also much of the prequels were shot on location so this idea that Abrams "went back to shooting on location" is misplaced. Research!

The Sequel Trilogy is "more complex"? Im sorry but how high are you? Rian Johnson used his FIRST DRAFT for God's sake.

Oh really? I am fed up with all favourite characters dying and bad endings - I would LOVE to see a good and complete happy ending for once.

Fairytale endings are what we dream for! Its just that we are more sophisticated and experienced hence making a fairytale harder to write. But fairytales are what we need and we as a society spend billions of dollars on good writing

I think every Star Wars film is great in their own way. In the end, it forms a massive story and it’s been amazing so far. I hope TROS is as good as it looks.

I'm very satisfied with this video. Finally a more surgical approach to comparing these franchises on their respective times, without the need for endless criticism or hate.
it is unfortunate through reshoots, reworks and new directions of these newer films have led to people despising Star Wars. Rogue one and Solo were okay, but they could have been legendary instead of mildly lukewarm. I am hopeful for what they've learned and what they'll do for Howards new trilogy & the Mandelorian.

Oh boy. Kylo Ren is not anywhere near to be an interesting villain, a well as Rey not being an interesting protagonist. Its not the actors, its not the character concepts its simply the script that is so incredibly dumb, that its funny by accident. Kylo Ren cannot be scary, or mysterious however much he frowns into the camera or throws temper tandrums. Rey has no "heros journey", everything she picks up, shes already perfect in. There is no room for growth and no suspense. The script is so dumb, that you dont even start to think about the whole picture and how to convert it to the real world (fascism etc.). The suspension of disbelief was gone after 5 minutes in Episode 8. I will not even start with the thousand abysmal attempts at humor in that episode, or the breaking of established rules in that universe, or the Mary Poppins scene, or the uninteresting supporting cast. Every single support role, whose names i already forgot, felt like being there just for the comic relief. 44% in rotten tomatoes cant be wrong... The new trilogy was so disappointing for me, that im not even going to the cinema anymore for episode 9.

It is a shame, that the trilogy is such a disaster, because i really liked rogue one and even liked solo, which propably wouldnt have gotten all the bad reviews if episode 8 hadnt been that bad imho....

Can't really compare them in my opinion .
Absolute master piece , Star Wars , Empire Strikes Back .
The prequels I love also. But for different reasons .
I liked. Force Awakens , but at the same time.
The Last Jedi. Just sucks .. Nothing much to say
Rogue One is the best New Star Wars film so far .
Solo had a good plot line .. But ridiculous droid and some scenes that were dark , literally to vague to see what was happening

Why is everyone complimenting this? It's just vanity fair bigging up how much more "deep" and "darker" and essentially "better" the new trilogy is, which is just a stupid marketing campaign.

The new sequel is trash and rushed. The original trilogy has a lot of intriguing and deep subtext. Which you don't have to be a massive fan to know.

Connections? You mean rip off. The prequels are far better than the disney junk. The prequels at least did things differently, showed us more of the world and how it all worked. The Disney movies just reset everything so they can rehash the original movies, making the actions of the characters in the original trilogy pointless. The empire didn't fall, just rebranded. The Jedi didn't return, the rebels didn't rebuilt society but just continued being rebels for some reason for 35 years living on forest moons still. The oriignal trilogy accomplished nothing now just because disney have no courage to do something original and creative.

Then show us that. The films have not shown us any change or progression that happened between Return of the Jedi and the disney stuff. Within the wide array of Star Wars stories and books, it is well known that there are ups and downs, and long periods of darkness in the Star Wars universe. For this reason, I would never expect a fairy tale type of ending in Star Wars. That said, I do expect to feel a strong air of hope, wonder, and a strong push towards goals that will lead to a better time, a better universe.

I disagree with your point that people nowadays aren't looking for fairy tale endings. I think this job lies entirely with the move-makers. I.e.: if the movie brings us to a fairy tale type ending, in a way that works in the story, then we (the audience) are all for it! I don't know about you, but I loved the ending in Return of the Jedi, and I never thought that it meant there would be no turmoil to come. I saw it as a wondrous moment, where good triumphed and we witnessed the fall of an evil regime.
