  • Nintendo Switch Lite reaction/thoughts is a compact, lightweight addition to the Nintendo Switch family, with integrated controls.
Nintendo Switch Lite supports all Nintendo Switch software that can be played in handheld mode. It’s great for people who have lots of opportunities to play outside, and also for anyone who wants to
As a dedicated handheld gaming device, Nintendo Switch Lite does not support output to a TV.

Th cheaper price would b the appealing thing. I would just get a regular one if they end up being the same price.

This is great! As long as the screen is not too small I’m down as long as it’s not the same price

I'm a little worried that this is going to cause customer confusion due to not all Switch games being compatible with it.

Anyways, the full-on Switch is the one for me. Nice to see lots of comments from people who are excited to get the Lite, though.

I already preordered it😂😂 Lolz I love my Switch but it is too darn long! Hehehe I mainly play it handheld-mode so lugging it around was a bit of pain....hopefully NS lite will be easier to bring at cons....plus I collect Nintendo handhelds so this is just the latest addition to my collection😄😄

The current switch is backpack portable, but far from pocket portable. I'll need to see the lite in person of course, but I'm skeptical that it will improve pocket-ability to a useful degree. Without a clam shell, the analogue sticks seem destined to snag often.

If you already own a switch this thing is a useless piece of crap. If you are a casual gamer that just wants a handheld to play with i can see the appeal.

cheetodust Ding ding ding. Yes, it’s not for gamers like you or me. But for the parents who have kids/teens, they’d be more inclined to give them the (sorta) tossaway Switch. And that’s why it’s still going to sell like hot cakes.

I have pre ordered an Nintendo Lite yellow, previously had the standard one wasn’t really used but as Pokemon is coming out I want to dabble in a few Nintendo games. My main console is my PS4 Pro so this is the reason why a lite suites my needs.

Finally a Switch that is REALLY portable. Plus it's got a d-pad, better battery life, no pointless underused gimmicks and it's cheaper than the original Switch. The Switch Lite is gonna be a winner.

I don't own a switch yet for the simple reason, that screen looks 🤪lol... Seriously nintendo, sort that crap 720 nonsense please and give me an oled screen like my freakin' phone has.. The amount of people that I've seen complain about that screen getting scratched whilst putting in and out of its docking station is an absolute deal breaker for me. I want a heavyweight switch with all the trimmings, not an anorexic one 😂😜🤪

Cmon buddy. Invest in a $5 glass screen protector. Problem solved. As to why it’s only 720p and not OLED, do you want this to be a $500 machine?

Personally coming from someone who currently doesn’t own a switch, I wouldn’t really use the docked mode (especially since I own an xbox one already). So it would be really nice to only spend $200 as opposed to spending an extra $100 for something I would never use. And to have a handheld I can take anywhere of course

Water 8962 The Lite has a redesign Tegra X1 chip. Which is more battery/energy efficient. With the Switch in portable mode, it dumbs down the system so you’re not killing the battery in an hour. Hence 720p resolution. When it’s dock, it goes all out on power because it’s basically connected to the wall outlet. Thus being able to produce 1080p. So that’s why it won’t be dockable.

I believe the Switch Lite is another solid option for gamers that are for most part playing solo and doesn't want to spend too much on addition accessories. One of the big draw backs of the Switch are the dizzying array of extras. Get a bigger microSD storage, a pro controller, additional joy cons, joy con chargers, etc.

The Switch Lite pretty much takes that headache away by providing a decent control setup.

Personally, I want this the other way round- Like a PS TV for example. I literally just want a console to plug into the tv, and the controllers can carry on being like wiimotes if they have to. I'm too old for a portable device for regular use these days- for maybe 2 weeks of holiday a year is fine, but the neck ache and hand-cramps I got using the 3DS were awful. This looks to be worse!

Thank you for the video, I love genuine positive energy. The biggest turn off for me is the fact that the joycons do not come off for local multiplayer mode. Gaming is a highly social activity for me and I love the way the switch can be that on the go.

This is good for those who play it in handheld mode and not into the joycon motion controls

                                            • Juan Carlos Rubio Vizcarrondo

It is the replacement for the 3DS and I think that it is marketed towards a much younger audience.

If you already got a standard switch, acquiring the Lite version makes no sense at all. The normal one simply has all that Lite has to offer and more.

I guess that if price is an issue for you, you could get Switch Lite and access the same games. But, then again, if you already own the previous Switch, the Lite version has no appeal at all.

                                                Chertograad  1 weeks back

Reasons why (for me): I'm mostly a PC gamer while at home and I never actually use my TV (I don't even know why I got one to be honest...), I do love handhelds and I bought the New 2DS XL last Christmas even tho' it's an old device. Although a laptop is portable, let's be honest: it's not great for gaming on the go. A handheld console is. I'm not into all this motion control stuff (and I never was during the Wii days either) so I don't feel like missing out. I also never use rumble when playing so I'm fine with it missing. I've also held back from purchasing as Switch since ~330€ is a little bit too pricey for handheld-only use for me. I'm not comparing stuff here. I'm just saying I wouldn't pay that much for it. I do love the retro TV consoles tho' (nes mini, snes mini and the upcoming sega masterdrive/genesis mini which I'll be getting). I also don't like carrying backbags with me so fitting the original switch inside a pocket would've been a challenging task. The N2DSXL fits in nicely. We'll see if the Switch Lite managed to pull the same stunt.

Reasons why not (for me): I'm scared that since there's been a ton of discussion about the Joycon thumbsticks having drift over years of use (I even saw a video that shows what's causing the issue, can't recall if it was on Spawnwave's channel), I don't want the device to effectively break down on me after ~2 years and that I'd have to purchase a new one for such a small issue. And by small I mean that the thumbstick's don't cost that much in themselves... But you can't swap them out in a unibody design so ... yea... RIP. I'm also curious that if I'd get separate Joycons, how would the Switch Lite be held up without a kickstand and how would I charge the joycons then...? So many questions left unanswered...

                                                • Chertograad

All in all I think the Switch Lite is a great move by Nintendo. Many Switch owners have said their concerns but I'm seeing it as not marketed towards current Nintendo Switch owners but ones that haven't bought one yet because of either pricing or size issues (when considering gaming on the go).
It effectively targets the Nintendo 3DS crowd which I'm a part of. People that only want handheld mobile gaming but aren't content with smartphones' touchscreen. Let's be honest: Tactile feedback is huge. Feeling buttons press down instead of swiping on glass...

If the drifting issue is somehow resolved, I might even pick this up as my first Nintendo Switch variant.

I've been on the fence about the Switch for a long time, the games looked fantastic but the joy cons detatched are uncomfortable and the fact that they detach made me feel like that's one more thing to get broken later down the line(I prefer longevity and durability in my consoles), and the price tag was steep for my interest. So I held off on buying a switch. Still don't have one. But with the announcement of this streamlined portable model that has everything I want out of the switch and omits everything I didn't want from it made me finally decide to buy one. I grew up with gameboy color, gameboy advance, DS, PSP, as a kid who was always on the move it gave me a lot more accessibility and time to enjoy games all the way through instead of whenever I had a quiet day at home, which continues to be rare for me. I guess I'm just one of those people, but this version of the switch is exactly what I want.

The Last Dragon yes but my point is , it defeats the whole purpose & selling point of it, this feels very misleading, same thing with the wii mini, 2DS & new 3DS ,

I have a switch and I'm going to buy one cause it'll be nice to have a switch that's smaller to take to work and not have to worry about the joy cons or putting it down gently cause of the joy cons, so this with a case abuse lol

Would rather just spend the extra to get the full features. Too many are removed and they've literally removed the switches USP.
Its clearly made to replace the ds

I like the design as I don’t like the joycons, but I dislike that it can’t connect to a tv.

Brunch The Lite has a redesign Tegra X1 chip.

I have a switch already, but honestly, I was excited to be able to play Oot on 3ds. That blew my mind. So now this is essentially the new 3ds. To be able to play botw and super Mario Odyssey on the new 3ds (the switch lite) is even more mind-blowing.

Additionally, I feel like the lite is a better portable device than the switch and I'd much rather play that on the go. I never play my current switch on the go, I just leave it docked. It just feels like a home console to me.

Nintendo is going under. People play on their smartphones, they dont want to carry around somethign as ugly and big as Switch lite, especially since Nintendo's online services are rubbish. 3DS was solid, and common enough sight on the street. But Switch? Ive never seen anyone play on Switch on our streets. Nobody cares anymore. Goodbye, and good riddance, Nintendo.
