JVG asked Yao to gain weight to be able to compete with the O'Neals and Wallaces in that era, which is the right decision to make, but unfortunately it cut Yao Ming's career short. Also Yao had to compete in the summer national competition didn't help on his recovery, as Chinese fans acknowledged.

If Yao continued to be healthy, he could win a championship.

Watching Yao, he was really a nightmare. Defense had to do a lot of double teams. I really thought he was easy to push. But he fared well against Oneal, Wallace, and others. Sad to say, it is rare to find bigs like him in today's game. Embiid and Jokic at least?

Yao was the only man to make Shaq look like a crying baby and sat him flat on his ass. That alone makes Yao Hall of Fame worthy to dominate the most dominant player in NBA history. Yao was better, but injury plagued career didn't allow us to see the full potential of Yao.

I saw this guy as a rookie playing for Team China vs Team Canada. The first thing I noticed was how well he moved at his incredible height. And the guy was like 19 years old.

Yao was a standout for sure. I don't see how anyone can argue otherwise. I find it hilarious how sometimes he is double or triple teamed and is sometimes able to play like he is unguarded, like he is playing a schoolyard game with kids.

But luckily they had Yao and a great coach in Jeff Van Gundy which put them both in great positions to succeed. That win record they have is a testament of the how good the Rockets really were in the West that had way more stacked teams then the East.

This cut his career short, but is necessary evil. I wonder how well he can do in today's NBA though, with his quickness, shooting and underrated passing skills - I have no doubt he can develop a >35% 3pt shot.
