  • I Spent $275 on Broken Joy-Cons - Can I Fix Them for Profit? I bought 18 untested Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons on eBay to see if I could fix them and then sell them to make money. The Joy-Con conditions varied with some working correctly already and others having problems like broken R buttons, control stick issues, a missing rail, and I even fixed a controller that wouldn't stop buzzing.

About This Video: I bought 18 Switch Joy-Con controllers for $15.27 per controller. The most common problem I found was broken R buttons but I also had to work on thumb stick problems, replace a missing rail, and replace a motherboard. I ended up being able to fix 16 out of the 18 and I've already sold 5 of them for a profit of about $10 per controller.

I saw that. Less than #2.00 profit so far, with 4 left to sell. The real question is, how much of your time was taken fixing them. And what was your time worth? It just doesn't seem like you are making any profit,. In fact, I am betting that you are losing money.

@Alex Garcia use a small enough torx bit at an angle with a good amount of pressure and turn it counterclockwise little by little. Or super glue a spare bit to it and once it dries turn counterclockwise to back it out. Or you can drill it out but you may cause more damage

I'm new to fixing electronics, and am wondering if somebody can explain to me how flux paste is used? When do you use it vs actual rosin core solder? To an outsider, it appears to magically remove and attach pieces haha!

I'll be honest - every time I see one of your thumbnails I cringe a bit... Your content is great but your thumbnail game could use some work. Your expression always looks like "I'm dead inside, but here's what I think a smile looks like"... The typical "goofy face + close-up of relevant item" formula is definitely overplayed, but that's because it works. Try a few humanizing close-ups of your own face matched with a nice picture of a joy-con, or whatever is on the repair order for a given episode - the thumbnail is the first, and all-too-often often only, advertisement you get the opportunity to present to a potential viewer - make sure you take the most of that chance!
