You cant critique players shot styles and form. Everyone's body type, arm and hand length, height, strength, right hand dominant, ambidextrous ect ect ect. The only importance is if the shot is falling and if its comfortable. Then it doesn't matter. Look at Reggie Miller funky form, but he could knock it down.

The left thumb gives more power but also makes you miss more to the right. The traditional follow through works much better than the thumb flick.

missippe blazegaming Thats not entirely true. If you need a thumb flick and your fine with it stick with it. If not then switch to no thumb flick. Curry is a thumb flicker and he’s the greatest shooter we’ve ever seen.

Something that really Helped me go from being a terrible shooter to shooting over 50% from 3 back in the day is something that Joe Harris does. What I found to be EXTREMELY important for myself. Notice, how Harris doesn't use is left hand to push the ball into his right hand, most players do this, and your shooting hand has to rotate underneath the ball then shoot. what he does, and I found it helped me a lot is pushing the ball on top of your right hand so it's vertical pressure( in line with your shooting wrist and elbow), and not horizontal pressure, and you'll get insane accuracy from this because it prevents your shooting hand from making this very common elliptical motion to get underneath the ball, and instead allows you to sort of flip your hand straight through the ball rather than rotate underneath. I had to adapt this strategy because I'm only 5'8" and I don't have gigantic hands to totally control the ball during my shot, which led me to this style. The key to it, is doing it quickly, you want a quick thrust into your shooting hand from your off hand, It will feel slightly uncomfortable at first but the accuracy is un-deniable. It's a push into your shooting hand vertically, it's important that your off hand does the work to start the shot, for instance most players sort of push with their shooting hand into the ball while sort of just applying stationary pressure with their off hand, The dramatic result of this is lonzo, and devin booker style shots, Gary Harris does the opposite he pushes the ball with his left hand into his right which doesn't swing to the sides, it's locked in and it's only job is to launch the ball straight out not move with it. It's important to do it with quickness or else you'll wind up with a hickup or a shot similar to many females where it's resting in one spot with no momentum. Just remember move the ball over to the shooting angle with your off hand, and apply pressure straight into your shooting elbow and as you apply this pressure the ball should never stop as the pressure is straight on the the shooting elbow rise up and drain a super accurate shot. It's really easy, and it works really fast. TRY IT! lol.

You didn't talk about steph's rhythm. He starts bringing the ball up at the same time as he bends his knees but he's still a one motion shooter.

Actually he had his legs bent already, what he does is notice he’s leaning really far forward in the beginning of his shot, when the ball is still low. His head is above his toes, when he brings the ball up he actually doesn’t bend any further down, he just leans back. And since he was so far forward when he leans back he regains his balance and is vertically straight. While he’s leaning back he brings the ball up, while leaning back, and brings his heels off the ground. Then when the ball reaches its set point, he’s vertically straight, his heels are off the ground, and legs are bent, then he jumps. This gives him the most power and timing when shooting the ball.

The only thing I was decent at in bball was shooting 3z. But I shoot to low, more like the girls. I have minimal knee bend which is probably why I have to use more arm. I always found it so hard to shoot above the eyes. I felt to weak to do it.

Danny Green is not “using his arms to get power because he jumps so little” - he doesn’t even extend his arms! He times his little jump to get a lot of energy transfer through the flick on the ball- it’s surprising how little force is required to get power if timing is on. It would be interesting to compare Spurs vs Heat era Green jumper with this one that, I agree , looks very contracted and suboptimal. Also please do this type of comparison for the best, medium and worst free throw shooters. 👍🏽

Dirk and seth curry is shooting less 3 pointers than davis. Well, what can i do? Nba is a business. They want the “most popular” players to participate for the revenues. Same old nba. And yeah. Steph curry is one of the best shooters, what does he have to prove? I guess they did it for the bandwagon fans (ahem former lakers fans)

My coach asked me to fix it but I couldn't.
But it's already 5years ago, I wish this video come out at least 5 years earlier.
That also implies why players improve a lot in shooting nowadays.

                                                                              Good video!
