The thing is...I think whatever sequel that comes about from this movie, will not be about the character Michael Myers rather it would be about the Shape and it’s influence over others. Think about it, Michael possesses no sense of self or identity, no drive or even interest in anything. But the Mask, which embodies a primal faceless fear all mankind shares, acts as a catalyst which compels its host (Michael) to spread fear to sustain itself.
I feel that any sequel will explore some of the more supernatural elements like they do in Season of the Witch

Isnt the entire point of Michael to NOT have morals? That's what makes him so terrifying. I would hate it if they would expand that.

I'm an old school gal, who believes in continuity. Why bother to take us through all these Halloween sequels (except 4 #3), if they're going to wipe away everything in btwn. 2 me, that was really dumb. They also did that in H20, where she had a son, but not a mention of his "sister," Jaime. But, no matter how I may feel abt continuity, this [maybe] last sequel was pretty good. I started out at 18, with the original.....and at the end of the yr., I too will b 60!

I think the doctor orchestrated the whole "escape". Michael let hime stay alive for the purpose of getting to Laurie. After that he had no use for him. Plus he was probably mad at him for wearing his beloved mask.

Oh and yes the little boy was awesome for getting the heck out of there but at least he did call the cops.

It just doesn’t make much sense that Michael would be obsessed with murdering essentially a random babysitter he had met 40 years prior.

They only showed the right hand, which was the only hand that Michael Myers still had intact. Laurie was the only one of the three women who actually knew what Michael's face looked like (at least what it looked like 40 years prior), and she never looked at the driver. Laurie's granddaughter flagged down the truck, but she has no idea what Michael looks like without his mask, so she had no reason to be suspicious of the driver (other than the fact that it was a complete stranger). I'm definitely thinking that the driver of the truck was Michael Myers. Michael is a master strategist, so he never enters a place without having a way out. He could've been watching, and even exploring Laurie's house, while she was out trying to gather her family.

                                                                          • Trey Myles

Gonna hate me for spoiling the beans (YOUVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!) but it recaptured the vibe and atmosphere off the original 1978 film, Jamie Lee Curtis was more badass than she was in H20 and Resurrection, loved the stoner comedy references in a couple scenes hence it was made by the same guys who did Pineapple Express.....and I smoked two blunts of green while watching Halloween 2018!

It wasn't the first time that I saw Laurie Strode being a PTSD-suffering drunkard and noticing strong character development in a Halloween movie after the original, in H20 I saw the Laurie-the-Drunk side but not the strong character driven shit in that one because they only show it in the TV version of it, never on the gory theatrical cut.

Back to it, John Carpenter had involvement in that one which made me happy, there was real character development in particular with Laurie, her granddaughter Allyson (played by the beauitful Andi Matichak) and her daughter Karen (played by the amazing Judy Greer, who I know as Ms. Desjardin from Carrie) who isn't Jamie Lloyd sadly but the movie was meant to be an actual follow-up to the very first one so they had to ignore the previous eight films, which i didn't mind.

The dialogue, at times were serious, on the other side cracked me up as a stoner asking "WTF is this bitch on?!" "Is that guy on crack?" just laughing my fucking head off!

Thank fuck Halloween 2018 wasn't linked to the Rob Zombie films!!!! As much as I am a fan of Zombie for his music and some of his films which included The Devil's Rejects, I personally felt the Zombie Halloween films were the biggest let downs to me as a die-hard horror fan, John Carpenter felt the same when he said that the movies took away Michael Myers' mystique, no real meaning/origin behind his motive for killing people and that he was "too big".

Speaking of Michael Myers, when I heard that Nick Castle (the first Michael Myers to kill) was going to come back in that one, I was excited and dying to see him but found out he was only in one scene and somebody else would play the Shape for the remainder of the movie so I was "whuh?!"

James Jude Courtney did an incredible job as Michael Myers. He was basically as I knew he would be known as "Old Man Myers" (in response to the trend of "Old Man Logan", "Old Man Hawkeye" etc.), he maintained what Nick Castle bought to the role. I had also noticed in Jude Courtney's performance there were elements from previous Myers actors/stuntmen such as Tyler Mane's aggressiveness, Brad Loree's stealth, Chris Durand's stance, Don Shanks' calculating skills, Dick Warlock's limited invulnerability and George Wilbur's hands-on killing method. The William Shatner/Shape mask and how it was designed to look properly old and worn out for decades was better than the Rob Zombie design personally again.

The first seven minutes/pre-title sequence, from the moment the ambient music came on, I got hooked to the screen, feeling a sense of tension, excitement and happy anxiety slowly but surely building up inside of me. When the opening theme came on after the first seven mins, I mushroom cloud blew up singing and dancing to the song.

The chase scenes even the battle scores were something that the previous Halloween films should have had. The soundtrack, in particular the "Halloween Trimuphant" song, was a big love letter to us fans of horror film scores and dark wave electronic music. They reused the seven main film score highlights of the original (as that one did) but they added new and original stuff that fit very well with the nature of Halloween.

The special effects and gore effects that was as always in modern horror film remakes or sequels/prequels were realistic and not over the top campy.

Let downs were Dr Ranbir Sartain (played by the incredible Haluk Bilginer, who I knew as Mehmet Oshan in EastEnders) being the one to cause the domino effect in the movie. When he murdered the deputy who wanted to be the next Dr Loomis to shoot the boogeyman dead, I thought "That's it, YOU are dead!!! Praying to god Michael kills you! You're a disgrace to Dr. Sam Loomis, who wanted the boogeyman locked up and kept away until end of time and the original Sheriff Leigh Brackett, who had lost his daughter to the Shape because of other people's incompetence and ignorance.

Second let down was Cameron Elam (the son of Lonnie Elam from the original) who was being a total cheating dipshit asshole on Allyson. I also wanted him to die at the hands of the boogeyman, who should've got his chance to mentally scar Lonnie (who bullied Tommy Doyle) for life.

Third was not seeing Dr. Sam Loomis and Sheriff Leigh Brackett and what happened to both of these guys after the previous film. These two were the heroes that inspired Laurie to become the ass kicker she was in the 2018 movie. If Brackett were to reappear, he would've been Mayor of Haddonfield, even owning a dog named Annie. There should've been more long audio recordings of Loomis documenting Michael Myers over his incarcerated years so that we know that he isn't the "real boogeyman" as theorists like to call him.

The forth which I reconsider at times was Oscar, drunk-and-horny or not, he should HAVE NOT made that kissing move on Allyson, he should've kept her walking home safely, then again his death would've been very different or stayed the same, except he would've sacrificed himself to let Allyson run. Speaking of sacrifice, Allyson's friend Vicky who was babysitting the Julian boy who cracked me up with him bringing up Vicky and Dave smoking weed! Reason why the kid survived the Shape's wrath was because Vicky used herself as bait obviously being a good natured babysitter!

Besides Carpenter, Lee Curtis and Castle returning, I didn't expect P.J. Soles (Lynda from Halloween 1978) to make a surprise cameo as a totally (geddit?!) unseen school teacher. Malek Akkad continues to do what his father Moustapha Akkad (RIP) does for the Halloween franchise despite the ups and downs it had endured over the years and that is bringing the baby of John Carpenter and Debra Hill (god rest her soul also).

Even though Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions did this movie with Malek Akkad, the real masterminds behind Halloween 2018 were, besides Carpenter, Danny McBride and David Gordon Green. These guys were and always will be real die-hard fans like us, you can tell they respected the universe of Michael Myers in terms of the atmosphere, vibe and true colors of Myers.

Halloween 2018 is a great movie, the best film out of the entire franchise besides the first four (Season of the Witch included!!!!) and the Producer's Cut of Part 6.

                                                                            FINAL NOTE:

Halloween 2018 is getting a sequel that will be out next year according to Blumhouse, the Pineapple Express filmamking crew, who are involved with it again. Laurie, Karen and Allyson are coming back and fingers crossed that Old Man Myers (James Jude Courtney obviously!) will be in it again.

However, to be very honest and truthful, it doesn't need a sequel. Reason why is that not only it will make a fuck load of money in box office, but critics will take one look at it and go "meh". Meaning they won't give a shit and throw up negative feedback that will put the Halloween franchise back to square one (if you know what I mean).

Lastly, I enjoyed the movie, I'm happy with the movie being considered as the best besides Parts 1-4 and 6 (producer's cut!) - my opinion, yours will be different - very proud and grateful of everybody involved in it.

Best advice before it gets too late is to leave Halloween 2018 as it is. Leave it be, don't do any more while both that film plus the original continue to stay popular.

                                                                            • Billy Michigan

Dr. Sartain in wasn't exactly helping Michael as he just wanted to observe him outside of the hospital. He wants to know more about him, how he thinks, why he chooses the people he Kills, does he speak?
I don't think Dr. Sartain was to survive in any version.

I believe that the baby was a nonentity to Michael. A non threat and a non being. In a way, maybe the baby was so negligible that it was practically invisible to him.
